On December 6th, 2021, the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange at Nanjing University announced the results of the Global Engagement for Strategic Partnership (GESP) evaluation, and the project High-level International Academic Network on China and the World in the Era of Great Changes led by Vice Dean Yao Yuan of the School of International Studies was successfully selected as a key funding project of the GESP. Building on the foundation of the 2018 project China and Global Governance in the Belt and Road Initiative, which was part of the Nanjing University International Strategic Partnership Development Program, this new high-level international cooperation project aims to deepen and expand international cooperation.
Currently, the world is undergoing unprecedented changes in international systems, patterns, and orders, and China, as a builder of global peace and contributor to global development, can play a more active and important role in this process. The High-level International Academic Network on China and the World in the Era of Great Changes project aims to develop Nanjing University's international strategic partnership by promoting extensive exchanges with world-class universities such as Harvard University and Yale University in the United States, the University of Tokyo, Keio University, and Waseda University in Japan, and Seoul National University in South Korea in the areas of education, scientific research, and social services. This project also aims to build a high-level international academic network to promote the development of regional and international studies of the School of International Studies at Nanjing University.
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) promoting the establishment of the Asian Campus program, establishing high-level English-taught double degree programs in international relations, and implementing high-quality degree mutual recognition and co-taught programs; (2) establishing a high-level academic cooperation network to advance China and world studies from a global perspective, jointly conducting research projects, writing academic publications in foreign languages, and holding bilateral/multilateral academic conferences and high-level thematic lectures; and (3) initiating and establishing a high-level think tank dialogue mechanism with decision-making and social influence to serve national development strategies.
