In order to implement the spirit of the “Endeavor Action” implementation plan of Nanjing University, better help young teachers plan their career development, and improve the teaching and research of the School of International Studies, the School held a seminar on teaching and research of young teachers in the morning of May 18, 2023. The seminar was hosted by Professor Wang Yizhou of the School of International Studies, and attended by Zhao Guangrui, Director of the Department of International Politics, young teachers, faculty members and research secretaries of the School.
During the seminar, the young teachers of the School, such as Chang Na, Wei Han, Wang Wanlu, Zhang Shiao, Li Tu and Zhou Wenxing, had in-depth communication about their respective courses, students’ feedback and research directions in research. Zhao Guangrui answered the teachers’ questions regarding the teaching goals and curriculum of the education program of the School, and expressed that he would continue to improve the curriculum system, expand course practice, promote the construction of teaching materials, and strive to cultivate composite talents with solid professional foundation, international vision and excellent foreign language skills.
Professor Wang Yizhou made pertinent suggestions for the teaching and research to teachers in the light of the school’s development plan of teaching and research and the actual situation of the teachers, and put forward three wishes for the future development of the young teachers: Firstly, they should harmonize their own development with the construction of the School, so that the two can form a synergy and symbiosis; secondly, they should strengthen the awareness of planning and designing teaching and research, rely on the advantages of their own disciplinary background, and form their own “small but fine” characteristics; thirdly, they should strengthen the communication with experts and scholars in related fields from other universities, innovate the working method and stimulate the collision of thoughts.
The seminar also discussed and exchanged views on the standardization and humanized enhancement of teaching and research management of the School.
