In order to realize the spirit of Nanjing University’s “Endeavor Action” implementation plan , strengthen the construction of the School of International Studies’ talent team, and help young teachers in career planning and development, the School organized a special policy presentation and exchange activity in the afternoon of May 25. Sun Tao, Deputy Director of the univerisity’s Human Resources Office, was invited to explain the “Tenure-Track Faculty” system and its main contents. Wang Yizhou, Dean of Institute for Area Studies, Zhu Feng, Executive Dean of the School of International Studies, Yao Yuan, Vice Dean of the School of International Studies and nearly 20 young teachers of School of International Studies and School of Government attened the seminar. The event was hosted by Yang Dongmei, Party Secretary of the School of International Studies.
Deputy Director Sun Tao explained the background, significance, main contents and procedure of the introduction of the “Tenure-Track Faculty” system, pointing out that the introduction of the system is a strategic measure to accelerate the construction of a high-level faculty in line with world-class universities. The school will leave a development space for teachers to make the best use of their talents and push them to excel through grading management and various incentive measures. It is hoped that teachers will face the demands of disciplinary development and respond positively to perform well on the new path. After that, Sun Tao had an in-depth communication with the teachers on the issues of professional promotion, scientific research and teaching, and salary system that they are concerned about.
Since the talent team is the key force for the construction of “the first Nanjing University”, the School will promote the improvement of the “quality” and “quantity” of team building and create a good environment for the development of talents according to the requirements of the “Action Plan for Talent Building” of the “Endeavor Action” Plan of the university, to accelerate the construction of a first-class faculty with international vision, reasonable structure and distinctive features.
